1. Release

You can watch Damsel in Netflix as it is already availabe since March 8, 2024.

2. Synopsis

Living in a barren and rusty place, Elodie is trying her best to help her father's Kingdom. Although it would be exaggerated to call that place a Kingdom. Desperate and hoping the best for their village, Elodie's family received a too good to be true proposal from a faraway Kingdom. Unlike Elodie's Kingdom, her Prince's kingdom is wealthy, green, and beautiful. The family are besotted by the view, although it seems only Elodie and her stepmother who were disturbed by the eerie nuisance from the place.

3. Review

On our last post, I reviewed the Exhuma Movies: Exhuma Review. We did need to consider the violence & gore, but in Damsel, you don't need to consider those.

Here are few things I like from the movie:

  • The CGI, background, overall the animation was great. Effects also added a nice touch to the movie
  • In my opinion, the acting was not really special. Let's say it meets the requirement.
  • I love the intricate languange and sometimes idioms they put in each character's sentence.
  • The plot is great and they have a really sweet ending.
Few things the movie need to patch up:
  • The logic. I think to some people think it's bizzare how Elodie fell to a dungeon maybe 300 ft and she's still alive
  • Lack of the ending explanation ( I won't explain this because it will become a spoiler)
  • Yes, the plot is great, but it's not special.
4. Age rating

Based on Imdb, the movie is rated 13+ due to "strong creature violence, action, and bloody images.cI completely agree with that. Sometimes there is mild jumpscares, and I tend to startle. They're not scary, just sudden movement of creature that got you. I admit though, some parts kind of icks me. Even as a person who isn't scared of blood, the wound scene could be mild graphic.

5. Cast

  • Millie Bobby Brown: Princess Elodie
  • Nick Robinso: Prince Henry
  • Robin Wright: Queen Isabelle
  • Angela Bassett: Lady Bayford
  • Ray Winstone: Lord Bayford
  • Brooke Carter: Princess Floria
6. Should I watch it?

Despite my own opinion of this movie and those comments saying that "this movie is overrated", I still think you should give it a go. Maybe it won't be very special, but if you need something to entertain you, this will definitely do the job. Although let's just say if you are in your mid 30-s this movie probably will give you a bore. As long as you're not too old for fantasy, this movie is alright.

thank you everyone! cya in new post!
