Book Review Pt.3: Convenience Store Woman (By: Sayaka Murata)

Konnichiwa, friends! Welcome to another series of "Book Review." In this episode I'm going to review a book that is a bit underrated (In my opinion). Drumrolls please! The star of today's episode is:

"Convenience Store Woman" by Sayaka Murata.

Let's hop into it!

A. Synopsis & Description

Keiko Furukura a 36 years old woman, lived her life to the last as a convenient store woman. Every inches of her life is only about one thing, "Convenient Store." She is still single and worked in the same convenient store for 18 years. A lot of her friends and family pursued her to find a new job, and most importantly, start a love life. Keiko didn't care about those words and continue her life peacefully.
But because of an accident, she began crossing that "Normal Life." She realized as her life changes, others changes as well.

B. Review

First impression, this book is gruesome. Very gruesome, and I wouldn't really recommend this to young readers because they might be confused. There are no explicit contents, but a bit too gruesome/weird for young readers to read.

When I read this book, I felt I read something different than other books. Its like we understand Keiko's mind although she's weird. We usually judge someone that we think is weird/crazy. But I don't know, this book just makes me understand why those "Not Normal Person" do the things they do. Its like I actually see a glimpse of Keiko inside myself. And that actually really open my mind.

At first I was confused by the ending. The ending just makes the story feels dry. But after I think it over, I finally understand the meaning of the ending. It wasn't your "Happily Ever After" ending, but it is meaningful.

And I think that's all I gotta say. I know its short, but honestly this is the book I'm really sure that is actually good and could change us. Excellent book!

Ciao for now everyone! Thank you!!!💕
