My Trip to Tangkuban Perahu, Lembang

Hello all of my beloved friends! This isn't holiday season, but I can't hold the urge to post something about Vacation!!! Today I'm going to guide you for a stroll through Tangkuban Perahu. I went to this place about 2/3 months ago, and it's one of the most arousing experience yet! Lets' gooo!

Mount Tangkuban Perahu is located in Bandung, West Java. Specifically, this place is located in Lembang, Bandung. From my experience, the entrance to this place is kind of steepy. But it is still tolerable.

Maybe many of you wonder what Tangkuban Perahu means? Perahu in Indonesia means a ship. Together they meant: Overturned Boat. If you look from above, the crater kind of resemble the look of an Overturned boat.

There's a Legend in Indonesia about this place. The story is a bit long, therefore I can't tell you in today's post :-(. But you can search it on Google after this!

When I arrived at this place, I was greeted with many sellers. Most of them sell strawberries and berries, keychains, even service like taking photos. I reccomend the strawberries though, they're extremely sweet, good pair with its sourness!

The first thing you see is an enourmous crater famously knowns as: Kawah Ratu (Ratu Crater). There are little smokes flying around the crater. The soil beside Ratu Crater is white because of sulfur and there are yellowish brimstones. Here is a picture of Ratu Crater:

Does it looks like an overtune boat?

In Tangkuban Perahu, there are a total of 9 craters: Ratu, Upas, Domas, Baru, Jurig, Badak, Jurian, Siluman dan Pangguyungan Badak.

There are plants growing around the crater. This plant called: Manarasa. Young Manarasa leaves are tiny and reddish colored.

Based on the Tangkuban Perahu Legend, a woman called Dayang Sumbi got her eternal beauty from this plant. Because of Manarasa Plant, Dayang Sumbi managed to stay young even though she was already so old.

On the ground, there are many Manarasa Trees. And this tree become one of Tangkuban Perahu's iconic photo spots. Interested? Here's a picture:

Unfortunately most craters were close because they aren't safe enough. But there's one crater that's so safe you can even walk on it. And it is: Domas Crater!

Domas is a combination of two words: Domba Emas (Golden Sheep). It is told that someone ever saw a Golden Sheep walking on the crater.

If you want to visit Domas Crater, you must pay for a guider. The pathway to Domas Crater is through a forest, therefore there's few path that's covered by roots or soil. And by using a guider, you can get more facts about the crater.

The path looks like this

One of the interesting fact I get is that there's a tree that naturally has batik patterned wood. So no, they don't paint these woods to have batik patterned, it's natural! These trees are rarely found in location other than Tangkuban Perahu, Lembang.

People selled cups, ashtray, and animal statue from these woods.

The tour guider told me there used to be a lot of Javan Lutung hanging around the tree. But sadly there aren't many of them left, and I didn't even see one of them :-(. You can see many unique plants though, like golden wooly fern, rhododendron retusum, etc.

There are many cool photo spots in the wood, so don't forget to take at least one picture!

Anyway, not far from the crater, there'll be people selling eggs. Well, in Domas Crater, you can safely boiled your egg in the crater's steaming water. Like this:

There are many water craters in Domas, but there's one that's so hot you can see the bubble pops. This is where people usually put their egg. You put your egg in a small plastic bag, tie it up, put it in the crater's pool, and you just need to wait for about 15 minutes until you can enjoy your egg.

Talking about water craters, there are many small pool of water craters that you could use as a Spa. Dip your leg and enjoy the view. The temperature of each water crater is different. If you think the pool is too hot, change to the less hotter one (ask the guider). If you think the pool isn't hot enough, change to the hotter one. But don't dip your leg in the pool where you used to boiled your egg (cause it's way too hot).

Also, there'll be people offering a spa massage. They'll put sulfur cream on your leg and hand after that, they will start massaging. This helps blood flow quicker I guess.

And I think that's all for today! Sorry if this is too short, I'll post more! But still, million thank you for clicking this post & see you next time! Byeee💚
